What we did
The engineering team was doing manual, script-driven deploys that required two people and a shared checklist. Errors were common; rollbacks were painful.
We audited the build process, containerised the application, and wired a GitHub Actions pipeline to a staging cluster with automated smoke tests before any production promotion. Canary releases meant even the first deploy after the switch went out without drama.
Within a fortnight of go-live the team was shipping four times a day. The next sprint we added automated rollback on error-rate threshold breach.
