What we did
The client operated a single physical data centre running critical patient-record software. Lease expiry gave them a hard deadline — six weeks to migrate or renew at 3× the cost.
We designed a hybrid architecture with Azure as the landing zone and a phased replication strategy that kept the primary workload live throughout. Database replicas ran in parallel for two weeks before the final cutover, which completed in a four-hour maintenance window.
Post-migration we instrumented the environment with structured logging and set up on-call runbooks before handing back. The team now manages the environment with two fewer dedicated ops staff.
